EMF Testing Safety Levels in Homes and Residences – A Commentary

Thank you for this information, I have similar questions but more in regard to a nearby cell tower and measurements taken in uW/m2. We have done many things in our home to try to lower levels created by us and shield levels from the tower (apparently the main source). We cannot get bedroom levels below 15-70 uW/m2. How does this compare to what you usually see and what would you recommend to such homeowners? Thank you!

      Ginger,

I only do commercial and industrial safety and risk consulting at this juncture, but for what it is worth, I do not observe any adverse health risk from the RF levels you are conveying which are pretty typical for any country with a communication infrastructure. Thank you for understanding in advance!

Hi, I notice you mention in the article that you can give some ranges that are fine for where people spend 90 % of their time or more, but I don’t see those ranges listed. Can you let me know for a residential setting? We are approx. 600 feet from big power lines at my house.

    Kathryn,

An excellent question and one that is taking longer to answer than I anticipated. Currently I am researching all guidelines (there are some new ones) and listing those in the meantime while I decide what are acceptable exposure ranges without needlessly alarming people as other EMF “consultants” too often do either through well intended ignorance or willful profiting off of the fears of homeowners.

In the meantime you can check my progress here:

BTW, at 600 feet there is negligible influence in terms of AC magnetic EMF from any large power lines. The primary influence is the secondary feeders that electrify your home. More information is found here:
